Ultimate End of Lease Cleaning Checklist: Get Your Bond Back

Moving out of a rental property can be an incredibly stressful experience. Between packing boxes, coordinating removalists, and sorting utility transfers, the last thing you want to worry about is losing your security bond due to cleanliness issues. Landlords and property managers are notoriously strict during final inspections. To help you secure a full refund, we have compiled the ultimate end of lease cleaning checklist.

Kitchen: The Cleanliness Focal Point

The kitchen is where property managers spend the most time inspecting. Make sure to cover these key items:

  • Oven and Cooktop: Remove all grease, burnt-on food, and carbon residue. Clean the racks, trays, and glass door until they sparkle.
  • Rangehood: Soak filter mesh in hot soapy water to degrease, and wipe down the casing.
  • Cabinets: Empty all shelves, vacuum crumbs, and wipe inside and outside of all cupboards.
  • Sinks and Taps: Scrub clean and polish chrome taps to remove water spots and limescale.

Bathrooms: Mould and Limescale Removal

A sparkling, sanitised bathroom gives inspectors immediate confidence in the property’s upkeep:

  • Shower Screen: Descale the glass to remove soap scum and water markings.
  • Wall Tiles: Scrub grout lines to eliminate any sign of mildew or mould growth.
  • Toilet: Clean and disinfect the bowl, base, cistern, and toilet seat hinges.

General Living Areas & Bedrooms

Do not forget the details that tie the property together: wipe down all baseboards, clean interior window panes, wipe down window tracks, and spot-clean wall marks. Dust light fixtures and ceiling fans thoroughly to remove cobwebs.
